This is really how it is some days:flat, calm, sea and a clear, blue sky. Now that we have moved into our new building in Petone, I don’t get to see this view as often as I would like. Nonetheless, it remains the perfect distance for a lunchtime walk. This is a lovely photo posted on Flickr by profilic Wellington photographer, Kiwi Frenzy On Location.
Other than a testament to this generation’s inability to spell (sorry, couldn’t resist), this is a very Petone wharf photo. I like the low angle and the emphasis on the white railings and the dark clouds. The figure in the distance adds a degree of mystery:perhaps it could be me? Another great photo of Petone from Flickr. This one is by artypharty. I love how the sense of perspective and distance is achieved and how the sea and sky meet. The clouds are wonderful too. This is a view very close to where I look out from desk and reminds me what a great place Wellington is. Mind you, when there is a howling southerly, the view is rather different!
Petone Wharf is just outside our building on the Esplanade. The view is often spectacular and always interesting. This is a fine photo from Racey Casey on Flickr of one of the many moods of Petone and the harbour. The early settlers landed almost on the exact same spot this photo was taken from: however when the first Southerly hit, they decamped and headed into what is now Wellington City
